Welsh Blues Duo pay tribute to songs of the South
The Barrelhouse Boyos take classic blues standards, sprinkle a little South Walian coal dust over them, and set them on fire!
Emyr and Huw first met at school in the guitar club. This meeting soon led to the formation of a band, with a firm basis in blues rock that sang in both Welsh and English.
Coincidentally, both Huw and Emyr then went to London to University. Huw to study Physics and Emyr to study music. Their paths continued to follow each other as Huw then undertook his PhD at Manchester University, whilst Emyr took up a job as a record producer for a studio based not far away in North West Wales.
Since then their combined careers have journeyed through games development, composing for television, lecturing, touring with folk bands and far too many seasons of panto! Whilst their friendship and their shared interest in roots music has been a constant throughout all this time, this is their first musical collaboration since those school days.
The Barrelhouse Boyos are delighted to share their carefully crafted interpretations of these iconic songs. Songs that speak so simply, yet so powerfully of human experience.
