The debut EP from this young artist from Caernarfon demonstrates the wealth of her musical talent
This might be Alis' debut EP, but it's long awaited. The fruit of a year of work in the studio it includes some of her best known songs. The release coincides with her return from a trip to Patagonia, where she had the opportunity to share a stage with Elidir Glyn from 'Bwncath'.
But this year has brought many new opportunities for Alis. She appeared at the Tafwyl Festival, on the Galeri stage in Caernarfon, at a UMCB Gig in Pontio. Alis also won a place in the last four in the Battle of the Bands competition and appeared on the main stage of the 'Maes' in the National Eisteddfod held in Boduan during August 2023. This is not the first time for Alis to receive support from the Eisteddfod, last year she took part in 'Women Making Music' workshops which is a joint project between Maes B and Clwb Ifor Bach.
The fruit of all this work can be heard in this collection, which shows a very sure style and vision. We hear a young voice here that looks at the world with honesty and wonderful enthusiasm. There is a craft to the songs that is very impressive and lends an undoubted significance to this first collection of her songs. Alis is definitely putting her stamp on the scene, with a lot more to offer.
